THINK SPRING!
Burdock has been used for centuries in both Chinese and western folk medicine. It is a large plant with long stalks that can grow up to 10 feet in height. The plant has hairy leaves and purple to pinkish flowers, resembling that of a thistle. It’s part of the Asteraceae family; native to Asia and Europe, but now naturalized in North America and Australia.
The whole plant is edible from the seeds to the roots. Burdock is very popular in Japanese cuisine. This plant was also used widely by many Native American tribes, usually for skin health and healing. Today, Burdock is commonly known to help circulate the lymphatic system. It is also a mild diuretic and a blood purifier.
