THINK SPRING!
Lemon Bergamot is a fast growing annual that is native to North America. It is part of the mint family and is sometimes called "Bee Balm" or "Lemon Mint" . It can grow to knees-length and has masses of tiered pink and purple flowers that blossom from August until the first frost. It attracts many pollinators such as honeybees and butterflies!
Traditionally, Lemon Bergamot was used for the treatment of intestinal parasites and also used to repel fleas and mites. It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties and it's also rich in phenolic monoterpenes as well as citronella, so it is commonly used externally as insect repellent.
We like to incorporate dried Lemon Bergamot in potpourri blends and it is also great to use as an essential oil for insect repellents.
All of our dried herbs are locally grown in Jamesport, NY at our certified organic farm. We start each herb from seed or root cutting on farm, hand tend it until peak potency, then mindfully harvest. Next, each herb is small batch dried, processed, and bagged for sale.
