Licorice is a perennial legume, native to the regions of the Middle East, India and Southern Europe. It grows naturally alongside riverbanks, where the soil is rich and silty; it thrives in full, bright sun. The plant has many light green, and fuzzy leaves, and can grow 4-5 feet tall in some instances. It also produces small white flowers that pollinators love!
Licorice has been used in culinary dishes and medicinally for thousands of years. It has been an important medicinal herb in both eastern and western medicine. Ancient Egyptians used it to flavor teas, and even remnants of Licorice root have been found within King Tut’s tomb!
This medicinal plant is said to help in the aide of digestion, as well as stabilizing blood sugar levels. Licorice is very mucilaginous- it can help inflamed lining of the respiratory, digestive and urinary tracts. Externally, the plant could also be helpful with eczema flare ups and dry skin!

All of our dried herbs are locally grown in Jamesport, NY at our certified organic farm. We start each herb from seed or root cutting on farm, hand tend it until peak potency, then mindfully harvest. Next, each herb is small batch dried, processed, and bagged for sale.
