THINK SPRING!
Thyme is a perennial shrub-like herb in the mint family. It is native to the Southern Mediterranean but now is commonly naturalized throughout North America. This herb has small rounded leaves on woody stems, produces pink flowers and It can grow to a height of fifteen inches.
Historically thyme leaves would be known to signify courage in the Middle Ages, and was representative of the virtues of grace and bravery in ancient Greece. Thymes' name derived from the Greek word thumus which means courage. Knights would wear sprigs of Thyme on their armor as a sign of their courage and bravery.
Today, Thyme is known to be an anti-inflammatory herb. It can help fight infections in the lungs and digestive and urinary tracts. Externally, if applied topically it may help with irritation from insect bites, stings and other minor pains such as scrapes and burns.
We like to use dried Thyme in cooking and baking. It is also great to add into tea blends to help with inflammation! Dried Thyme can also be infused into oil for cooking, as well as solar infused to turn into salves or balms to help with stings, burns or other irritations.
All of our dried herbs are locally grown in Jamesport, NY at our certified organic farm. We start each herb from seed or root cutting on farm, hand tend it until peak potency, then mindfully harvest. Next, each herb is small batch dried, processed, and bagged for sale.
