THINK SPRING!
Catnip is native to dry and temperate Mediterranean zones throughout Eruope, Asia and Africa- now widely naturalized. It is part of the mint family, and has been used in traditional medicine for hundreds of years. Native American tribes used the herb as an overall strengthening tonic, and drank it as a tea for the occasional stomach ache
It is a grayish-green perennial plant, with fuzzy stem and leaf and white to pink tiny flower spikes. Catnip is considered to help calm nervousness, ease indigestion, help with PMS symptoms, even promote a restful night sleep. In addition to having an effect on humans, it can have effects on cats as well, hence the name of the herb! Cats have been going crazy over the herb for centuries!
We love to use dried catnip to make catnip sachets for our cats to play with. We also love to use it in a tea blend to help with cramps and colds.
