This is the annual “German Chamomile”--the absolute tastiest for teas! Native to Europe, and adapted worldwide, chamomile has a long history of internal and topical use.
The small, daisy like flowers emerge by the thousands and take over multiple beds and pathways in the early summer garden. The whole farm smells like chamomile and we absolutely love it, and so do the pollinators!
Chamomile is considered to be a mild sedative, used to ease anxiety and stress, as well as nervous stomachs. Externally it’s commonly used to soothe skin irritation, inflammation and dryness
No known precautions, but should be avoided if you have allergies to members of the Asteraceae family*
We like to use dried Chamomile in solar oil infusions to turn into salves or creams. And we love a cup chamomile tea on its own to wind down the evenings.
